In today’s busy world, how can health professionals provide care that is holistic, compassionate, and sensitive to the needs of the whole person? How can we honor and care for every dimension of patients, families—and ourselves—in ways that are effective, inspiring, and sustainable?

This groundbreaking workshop provides leading-edge answers to these questions from two prominent leaders in the transformation of medicine, nursing, and health care. Jeremy Geffen and Jean Watson have each devoted their careers to developing comprehensive models for whole-person care that skillfully address the needs and concerns of health professionals as well as patients and families. Geffen’s Seven Levels of Healing® and Watson’s Science of Human Caring‘, presented together here for the first time, provide deep healing for the body, mind, heart, and spirit.

In a safe environment, we experience engaging talks and presentations, personal and group exercises, silent and guided meditations, and opportunities for sharing and connection. Join us and gain the knowledge and skills needed to create true, whole-person health care.

Upon completion, participants will be able to:
  • Describe the meaning of integrative and multidimensional approaches to health and healing, and understand how complementary and alternative therapies can be safely and effectively utilized in conjunction with conventional therapies for cancer.
  • Discuss the critical role that the mind, heart and spirit play in healing, and how these can be addressed in the context of modern medicine.
  • Understand and describe the The Seven Levels of Healing: the key areas of inquiry and exploration which patients and loved ones must address in order to heal and transform at the deepest levels of the body, mind, heart, and spirit -- on the journey through any illness, challenge or life itself.
  • Understand how The Seven Levels of Healing can be utilized by healthcare professionals and staff, caregivers, and practitioners of all kinds – as well patients and family members -- in all aspects of their lives.
  • Define the Science, Philosophy and Ethic of Human Caring and the 10 Carative Factors that balance and complement Medical Science.
  • Identify core aspects of The Theory of Human Caring: i.e. Caring consciousness, Intentionality; Energy, Human Presence, Caring-healing modalities -- within a Transpersonal Caring moment.
  • Differentiate between a conventional clinicalized-medical encounter and a human-to human, caring, spirit-to-spirit connection.
  • Critique different levels of Caring: from Caring to Uncaring encounters -- Biocidic (uncaring-life destroying) to Biogenic (life-giving and life receiving, for both the person providing the care and the one being cared for).
CE and CME are available and included in the tuition. $15 materials fee; include when you register. A questionnaire must be completed before the workshop.
