Observe and savor the historic Hudson Valley’s autumn landscapes in your own watercolor paintings. In the adventurous spirit of the Hudson River School painters of earlier centuries, we capture in watercolor Omega’s beautiful campus plus other glorious Hudson Valley views at locations such as Poets’ Walk Park and Burger Hill Park, at the peak of fall foliage season. Longtime Omega artist-in-residence Alan Leon guides us in this watercolor painting retreat, where we create 20 or more new watercolor paintings and studies. Through painting and drawing exercises, demonstrations, lecture, group critiques, and discussions, we: - Develop a deeper relationship with the landscape
- Learn to select and handle paint for startling beauty
- Create graduated, variegated, and continuous tonal washes
- Study creativity principles and play with perspective
- Gain confidence in painting en plein air
Beginning and experienced artists alike share ideas and the deep satisfaction and joy of interacting with the landscape through their paintings. Alan Leon, professional artist, muralist, and Fulbright scholar, has been an observer and painter of the landscape for more than 35 years. He teaches worldwide, at venues such as the Oakland Museum of California and the New York Botanical Gardens, and has participated in the Global Mural Fest, Tasmania, 2008, and the Alameda, California Plein Air Paint Out, 2009. alanleon.org |
