The elusive muse has teased and evaded writers for centuries. Distractions, busy-ness, fear, self-criticism, and lack of compassion threaten to keep the muse away. If our muse is left unattended, we can grow irritable, frustrated, and thwarted in fulfilling our creative potential. Yoga As Muse inspires writers to discover how an energized body and expansive mind can awaken their muse. In this retreat-like workshop, we integrate yoga’s tools into a creative writing process that leads to authentic heart-centered writing. Through unique Yoga As Muse exercises that weave yoga with writing, discussions on the soul of craft, and safe and optional read-aloud sessions, we experience how yoga hones awareness of our embodied mind both on the mat and on the page. The muse, we might discover, is not missing at all. It might be just a breath away. Writers and yogis of all backgrounds are welcome. Yoga teachers and professionals who wish to learn how yoga can awaken their students’ creativity are also welcome. No yoga experience required.
