Learn to put down credit cards, overtime, and excess food, and move your brain into a state where cravings and appetites fade.
Guided by New York Times best-selling author and creator of the scientifically proven Solution Method, Laurel Mellin, we learn how to use the new Solution Method course Wired for Joy! and the Solution 5-Point System to retrain our happiness set point and help us steer clear of compulsive behaviors.
Using lecture, small group practice, and body awareness, we clear away our neural networks of emotional trash—those unconscious basic expectations that sensitize our brains to stress and drive us to problem actions. Once we open up our pleasure pathways, we are able to receive an abundance of neurotransmitters for natural pleasure, giving us freedom from common excesses, and unlocking life’s richest rewards.
For laypeople and professionals alike, this workshop is for those who want to discover and experience a method to create lasting, positive change. The Wired for Joy Specialty Kit used in this workshop includes a three-month membership in the Solution Internet Community, with professional health support and 24-hour training.
Participants will be able to:
- define developmental skills training (DST) and list three elements of its practice.
- differentiate the symptoms of allostasis vs. homeostasis.
- describe The DST 5 Point System of emotional and behavioral regulation
- practice at least five tools of The DST 5-Point System.
- summarize the research on the effectiveness of DST in clinical practice.
- develop a plan for applying DST in their clinical practice.
$60 materials fee; include when you register. Recommended reading: Mellin, The Pathway.
