Richard Borofsky, EdD

faculty member Richard Borofsky is a master teacher in the art of intimacy. He is the cofounder and codirector—with his wife, Antra Kalnins Borofsky—of the Center for the Study of Relationship in Cambridge, Massachusetts, which provides therapy and workshops for couples and individuals on the practice of relationship. Richard and Antra’s loving presence, clarity, compassion, and lively humor are the fruit of being together as a couple since 1970 and working as couples’ therapists. Their special gift is their ability to authentically embody what they are teaching.

Richard received his graduate degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and has been a clinical psychologist in private practice since 1972. For two decades, he was codirector of the Boston Gestalt Institute and an instructor at Harvard Medical School. He has also been a Zen student since 1985.

Together with Antra, Richard has presented at numerous graduate schools, including Harvard Medical School and Boston University. They have also given workshops for religious organizations, including the Unitarian Universalist Association and Tibetan Buddhist Shambala centers, and have led workshops in both business and public education settings. In 1995, Boston magazine gave them the Best of Boston award for their work with couples.

Richard is a contributing author to On Intimate Ground: A Gestalt Approach to Working With Couples.
