Ann Myers, EdD
Ann Myers, EdD, is an associate professor in Sage's School of Education, and director of the Doctor of Education (EdD) in Educational Leadership program at Sage Graduate School, which her experience as a member of the New York State Commissioner of Education's Blue Ribbon Task Force on Leadership helped to design. With nearly 40 years of experience as a K-12 educator and an educational leader, she also has chaired the New York State Council of School Superintendents, the Special Education Committee, and the Commissioner's Advisory Council on Equal Opportunity for Women.
Myers received her bachelor's degree from the College of St. Rose, her master's degree from the State University of New York at Albany, and her doctor of education degree from Columbia University's Teachers College. She has been the recipient of two grants from the Rainwater Charitable Trust to build a community of support among school leaders who focus their work on the neediest learners, and a grant from the Fetzer Foundation for a national facilitator development program. She is also a recipient of the Cooperative Leadership Award from the National School Development Council, and the New York State Council of School Superintendents' 1990 Appreciation Award for leadership.
Advocating for women and minorities in leadership roles has been a consistent theme in Myers' professional career. She is the founding chairperson and currently serves on the board of the New York State Association for Women in Administration, which annually presents an award in her name to those who have mentored women as leaders. The Lower Hudson Council of Administrative Women in Education also has honored her.
Myers is a frequent presenter at regional and national conferences on topics of leadership, community building, renewal for teachers and educational leaders, and the emerging need for leaders within all roles in learning communities. She has been a consultant for the Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools for the past three years, and is a national facilitator for Courage to Teach, Courage to Lead, and the National Center for Courage and Renewal, through which she facilitated sessions for the Mid-Hudson Principals' Center and the Capital Region Principals' Center. |
