Douglas Noll, JD, is a peacemaker and former trial lawyer
with 22 years of civil trial practice in federal and state
courts. He has worked on over 1,500 conflicts, both litigated
and nonlitigated, specializing in difficult, complex, and
intractable conflicts where relationships are involved.
AV rated and listed in Best Lawyers of America, Noll
has trained judges, lawyers, and mediators throughout the
United States. He is a Fellow with the International Academy
of Mediators and the American College of Civil Trial Mediators,
and a member of the AAA National Panel of Mediators, the
AAA National Panel of Arbitrators, and the California Academy
of Distinguished Neutrals. A panelist for the National
Arbitration Forum, he also served as Judge Pro Temp for
the Fresno County Superior Court.
Since 1987, Noll has been a professor of law at San Joaquin
College of Law. He was also a professor of forensic psychology
at Alliant International University. A national speaker,
trainer, and presenter, he makes frequent appearances,
including presentations for the ABA Section of Dispute
Resolution annual meeting, the State Bar of California
annual meeting, Florida Dispute Resolution Center, Maryland
Center for Dispute Resolution, and Harvard Law School.
Noll holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Dartmouth
College, a doctor of law degree from University of the
Pacific, and a master’s degree in peacemaking and
conflict studies from Fresno Pacific University. He is
author of many articles and several books on mediation
and peacemaking, including Sex, Politics & Religion
at the Office: The New Competitive Advantage, (coauthored
with John Boogaert) and Peacemaking: Practicing at
the Intersection of Law and Human Conflict.
A second-degree black belt and a tai chi instructor, Noll
is also an expert-level snow skier and instructor, private
pilot, avid whitewater rafter, fisherman, and Irish fiddle
and harp player.
